GolfBug.tv, the world’s first broadband TV channel dedicated to golf, has joined forces with one of the UK’s leading digital entertainment providers, Simply Media.
The partnership with one of the giants of digital media will enable GolfBug.tv to develop the specialist channel in a number of ways which will enhance the attractiveness of the property to its viewers, clients and advertisers alike.
Available free-to-view and on-demand 24/7, the GolfBug TV channel offers news and views on all things golf including the latest news from the professional tours, reviews on some of the worlds’ best golf courses and resorts, interviews with leading personalities in the game, as well as reviews of the latest equipment and expert instruction.
GolfBug.tv is a good example of how IPTV (Internet Protocol TV) is taking over from traditional TV as consumers increasingly expect to “watch what they want, when they want”. GolfBug is operated by parent company, BrandLive.
“Whilst GolfBug has made huge strides in illustrating the benefits and dynamism of the digital world to people in the golf industry since its launch in Spring 2006, our agreement with Simply Media will catapult the channel to another level,” commented Andrew Cooke, founder and managing director of GolfBug.tv, which has already met with considerable success within golf around the world.
“In just 18 months, we have seen a real turnaround in people’s response to digital media and with Simply Media as our partner, we can tap into the company’s expertise in all areas of this fast-changing medium such as creating premium TV video content, engaging the minds of viewers and offering a responsive platform for advertisers.”
In conjunction with Simply, Golfbug has already developed a cleaner, sharper new look for GolfBug whilst its audience will be faced with a more interactive experience, better site navigation and improved content which they can watch whenever they want, when they want by just clicking on to www.GolfBug.tv .
The technical support and established infrastructure of Simply Media will also benefit GolfBug’s corporate clients by offering an extended range of media services that will include branded content creation, online video advertising and viral marketing.
“Simply is delighted to add GolfBug to its portfolio of Digital TV channels which include Avenue 11, a daily music, entertainment and showbiz channel and Simply Entertainment a dedicated movie channel,” said Henry Scott, CEO of Simply Media.
Alongside its 24/7 programming screen, the new-look GolfBug will offer an on-demand menu of the video golf content under nine categories such as the R&A, The European Tour, The Asian Tour, Golfing Destinations, Equipment and Instruction.
“Together with our improved channel and digital media services, we are confident that GolfBug will retain market leadership in its field and greatly increase the amount of traffic that log on to the site,” concluded Cooke.
“All in all, it’s great news for us and great news for everyone involved in the golf industry.”
