Golf Business Development February/March 2009 - First Edition

Golf Business Development magazine (GBD) – a brand new trade journal for the entire European golf industry – has enjoyed a positive launch to the market.

With the slogan “Joined-up thinking for the European golf business”, GBD covers the whole golf trade in its editorial scope, and has a mandate to shake-up the industry and to play a key role in helping to develop the sport in the time to come.

The first edition of the six-issues-per-year journal is out now, and is bursting with news, analysis, opinion, features and interviews – journalism that will cause even the industry’s greatest cynics to drop their marmalade.

GBD is written for go-ahead professionals in all golf market sectors, from the established golf course developer, the course owner, director of golf, the golf marketing expert, through to the aspiring young PGA professional and trainee golf course architect.

The journal is published and edited by Ben Evans, former editor of Pro Shop Europe magazine, a journalist with more than 15 years experience in magazine publishing. He is joined in this project by consultant editor Geoff Russell, with 30 years experience in the golf industry, who is proprietor and editor of www.golfbusinessnews.com and the on-line version of the Golf Owners Operators and Developers Directory.

Ben Evans said: “We are delighted to say that the response to our first issue has been highly positive. We feel there is a definite need for a magazine that links up all the talented people in the industry. In tough economic times, our joined-up thinking will help many decision-makers to reach a new audience, find new customers, and expand their horizons.

“If you are an innovator, a forward-thinker, someone who is part of the positive development of the sport, let Golf Business Development tell your story in a fresh and exciting way.”

Each issue of GBD will enjoy a print-run of 2,500 magazines. The first issue of GBD is now also available online by clicking on the ‘Current Issue’ bar of www.golfbusinessdevelopment.com, or through the link http://www.golfbusinessdevelopment.com/design.html

All members of the industry can view the copy online (the link is also being sent out to reach all interested parties – for example, all 36 PGAs within the PGAs of Europe are receiving this link with the request to forward it to their individual members).

Consultant editor Geoff Russell said: “This is absolutely complimentary to what we have been doing with Golf Business News.com for the last few years: producing a publication with content that is timely and relevant to every single stakeholder in the golf business. The big difference with GBN, however, is that GBD is strong on features and opinion. Does GBD keep its readers in touch? Yes, of course, but it also stimulates and inspires. What else can I say? It’s just a really good read.”

The second edition of GBD (April/May issue) goes to press on 21st April. Contact the team with your industry stories. Information about subscribing to GBD is available at www.golfbusinessdevelopment.com
