Getty Images Inc., the world’s leading creator and distributor of visual and digital media content, has announced a multi-year extension as the exclusive commercial photo partner with PGA TOUR, Inc.
Under the terms of the agreement, Getty Images will continue to provide the PGA TOUR, its players, various business partners and the global media immediate access to a vast collection of unique imagery that defines one of the most celebrated sport histories of our time.
The strategic relationship with the PGA TOUR was first formed in 2005 with renowned entertainment and event photo agency, WireImage, which Getty Images acquired in early 2007.
Getty Images has since helped to significantly expand the distribution of PGA TOUR imagery, providing editorial customers around the world with comprehensive coverage to share with an ever-growing audience of TOUR fans.
This continued partnership underscores Getty Images’ position as the leader in the sports photography business, offering a full suite of services from licensing and rights management, to hosting and managing the vast and ever-growing collection of PGA TOUR imagery.
“The PGA TOUR is pleased to announce our extended partnership with Getty Images,” said Paul Johnson, senior vice president, PGA TOUR. “Our players strive for excellence on every shot and we expect the same of our imagery. Getty Images has consistently met that challenge in capturing the TOUR’s most iconic moments.”
Getty Images continues to curate one of the most significant image collections through its extensive coverage of related events including the European Tour, the LPGA, the Masters at Augusta National and all other non-PGA TOUR events. To date, Getty Images’ vast image library offers more than 700,000 images featuring some of the sport’s most iconic moments played by its greatest players across legendary courses.
“Getty Images is delighted to announce our renewed partnership with the PGA TOUR, which enables us to provide an unparalleled product and service to our customers around the world,” said Adrian Murrell, senior vice president of editorial for Getty Images. “As the demand for compelling imagery of the sport from our customers continues to grow, Getty Images remains committed to photographing the game of golf.”
