Fresh New Look for ‘Golf Monthly’

1.06pm 2nd June 2021 - Media

Future plc golf brand Golf Monthly unveiled a fresh new look for the print magazine that went on sale this week. The issue boasts a stunning premium look and host of new franchises designed to showcase the best of the sport.

The Golf Monthly team set out with a vision of creating an upscale aesthetic while delivering the best practical and technical content staying true to the brand’s 110-year heritage.

The new-look Golf Monthly will continue to feature the biggest names in the sport and the best golf writing and photography, with new fonts, design treatments and franchises bringing the content to life.

The reimagined front section covers all the talking points from the month in golf, with the best imagery, biggest news items and interviews alongside bespoke illustrations, columns full of opinion and detailed analysis of the most significant new product launches.

In the features section, emphasis continues to be placed on big-name interviews, Major Tournament previews, grassroots stories and hot topics that matter most to golfers. This month’s lead feature on Rory McIlroy is backed up with an exclusive Q&A with USA Ryder Cup star Tony Finau and an in-depth investigation into mental health in the professional game written by one of the Sports Group’s most talented writers, Alan Dymock, who is Rugby World’s feature editor.

Elsewhere, new franchises in the how to tips section, refreshed reviews pages and a courses section that puts the emphasis on accessibility and practicality round out the enhanced Golf Monthly.

Editor Mike Harris says “This is the strongest revamp of Golf Monthly that I have seen in my 18 years on the brand. The process has been driven by content editors Nick Bonfield and David Taylor working in tandem with Sports Group Art Director Kevin Eason and Art Editor Jamie Latchford. They have really worked so hard to deliver to the initial brief I set and the results are stunning. It’s all the more impressive because that the process has happened over VC and Google Chat and not in a development room with print outs everywhere!”
