bunkered, Scotland’s biggest-selling golf title, has published this landmark issue fully 15 years after the magazine was launched.
The bumper 276-page edition is the largest in the magazine’s history and is a far cry from the two A5 pilot editions of bunkered which were distributed free to golf clubs across Scotland in 1995.
As well as telling the history of the magazine and reliving some of the highlights of the first 100 editions, the latest issue of bunkered also contains world exclusive interviews with world No.3 Lee Westwood, eight-time major-winner Tom Watson and two-time Ryder Cup player Ian Poulter.
There is also a 28-page guide to the 2010 Open Championship, 21 pages of instructional tips, 22 pages of the very latest equipment releases and a 15-page travel section, whilst Scotland’s ‘Toughest Closing Hole’ is also named after a widespread reader poll.
However, a £45,000 reader prize giveaway is sure to catch the eye most, with over 1,000 great golf gifts – including tickets to this year’s Ryder Cup match – being literally given away by the magazine, a fitting way to celebrate hitting such a magnificent milestone.
The magazine was the brainchild of bunkered publisher Paul Grant and he says he is thrilled to finally reach 100 issues.
“A lot of people wrote us off when we first launched the magazine and didn’t expect us to make it past six months,” says Grant, “so to reach 100 issues is something that my fellow directors, Tom Lovering and Stephen McCann and I are very proud of.
“However, we know that we wouldn’t have reached this milestone without the help and support of countless people. Truly, there are too many to thank individually but, to each and every person who has either contributed to bunkered in some way, shape or form, or indeed bought it down the years, I offer my warmest and sincerest thanks on behalf of myself and everyone at bunkered.
“We believe that the latest edition of the magazine is the best yet and gives us a solid platform from which to launch into the next 100 issues.”
