Wycombe Heights Golf Centre in Buckinghamshire, owned and operated by Burhill Group Ltd, has announced the appointment of Mark Woods as the club’s new general manager.

Woods joins Wycombe Heights with more than 15 years of experience in leisure management positions and is committed to delivering exceptional customer service. Woods aims to enhance Wycombe Heights’ reputation as a welcoming and inclusive destination for all golfers, while continuing to recognise BGL’s group-wide commitment to sustainability.

Woods commented: “I believe that the future of golf lies in adopting an inclusive approach that fosters a social and enjoyable atmosphere, while also appealing to the more competitive players at the core of our membership.”

“The senior team at BGL have been incredibly supportive, and their commitment at every venue to developing facilities and remaining at the forefront of the industry is plain to see. What’s more, the recently launched commitment to sustainability demonstrates the values of the company. I’m excited about what the future holds at Wycombe Heights and with BGL,” Woods added.

Wycombe Heights has already seen significant improvements in 2024, with recent investments including new tee boxes on the short course, renovated bunkers throughout the course, and updated clubhouse decor.

Under Woods’ leadership, Wycombe Heights has plans to further invest in the facility in alignment with BGL’s seven-step sustainability commitment: planning, policies and procurement, staff and golfer engagement, taking climate action, conserving resources, fostering nature, strengthening communities, and tracking and reporting.

The leadership team at Wycombe Heights will continue to review energy consumption initiatives, with plans to embrace LED lighting upgrades and explore solar power options throughout the site.

The reservoir irrigation system ensures responsible water use, while new wildlife feeding boxes have been introduced to create a more welcoming environment for local wildlife.

“My long-term goal is to continue to improve our standards both on and off the course at Wycombe Heights. I will strive to embrace the group-wide sustainability commitment at BGL to ensure we can contribute positively to the local community”, added Woods.
