In Italy from 17-19 September, the KPMG Golf Business Forum turns its attention to sustainability and the triple bottom line – profit, people and the planet.
Olympic golf course architect Gil Hanse joins top international experts for a special Golf Business Forum think tank on the economic, ecological and social impacts of golf. This special session is presented in association with Syngenta.
Sustainability is arguably the most important issue affecting golf development today. As new projects seek to gain permissions from local governments, and existing golf courses face up to their financial, corporate and social responsibilities, the Golf Business Forum turns its attention to sustainability and the triple bottom line – profit, people and the planet.
- Does the desire to make a fast buck cloud the judgment of some developers and the long term financial considerations for a successful golf project?
- Why are so many new golf developments financially unsustainable?
- Why has golf participation gone backwards in the EMA region for the first time in 20 years?
- What can golf learn from other sports to drive greater demand?
- & Are golf courses overly cautious about stating their environmental credentials and stewardship, or is the industry still making the same mistakes of the past.
The panel will include:
- Rhett Evans (moderator), CEO of the Golf Course Superintendents Association of America
- Gil Hanse, President and Lead Designer, Hanse Golf Course Design
- Jonathan Smith, Chief Executive, Golf Environment Organization
- Mike Parkin, Global Head Turf and Landscape Business, Syngenta
They will discuss the many aspects of sustainability as relates to the golf industry and why this is so important to the future of golf communities worldwide as well as how the Olympics can serve as an opportunity to showcase sustainable golf.
