STRI (Sports Turf Research Institute) is preparing to welcome professionals from the sports turf industry for its fourth annual research event.

STRI Research 2014 takes place at STRI’s head office and research facility in Bingley, and offers unique insight into the world of sportsturf management. The eagerly anticipated free event brings together greenkeepers, course managers, fine turf managers, groundstaff and sports professionals, and focuses on the latest trends, issues and the future of the sports turf industry.

Last year STRI welcomed over 250 turf professionals from all over the world to the West Yorkshire-based office and this year, STRI Research 2014 will enable delegates to engage with all the latest developments and research into sports turf products, techniques and technology.

The event will run on both Wednesday 17th and Thursday 18th September at STRI’s research facilities in Bingley with demonstrations taking place across eight separate turf management areas.

A key industry focus will be offered by STRI’s team of experts on a wide range of industry topics including nutritional management, disease management and plant health, growing turf in difficult conditions, application tools and methodology, as well as technology and machinery.

STRI’s research partners attending and supporting this year’s event are Aquatrols/Farmura, Bayer, Campey Turf Care Systems, Everris & Syngenta, Headland Amenity, OGT & Sherriff Amenity and Rigby Taylor.

Ruth Mann, head of research at STRI, commented: “We’re building on the success of previous events and have taken on board all the great feedback from attendees and incorporated this in the 2014 programme. All the elements that have worked so well in previous years have been retained together with new demonstrations and an additional topic station to ensure that this event is the best one yet.

“As in previous years, delegates groups will be concentrated to allow maximum interaction and engagement with STRI’s advisory team and share best practice by providing the latest insight on the product innovation, technology and techniques that are being trialled and continuing to advance the industry. We really want professionals to be able to take advantage of the expertise on offer from our experienced and highly qualified team alongside our industry research partners.”

Carolyn Beadsmoore, head of sales and marketing at STRI said: “In the four years since we introduced this event it has become one of the highlights in the industry’s event calendar.  As both days are already close to capacity, sportsturf professionals wishing to attend should book soon to guarantee their attendance and we look forward to welcoming them to the event.”

The deadline for bookings is 10 September 2014. Invitations have been sent out to more than 6,000 sports clubs across the UK and Ireland. Discounted accommodation of 50 per cent is available for those attending for one night at the Mercure Bankfield Hotel in Bingley.
