It’s been a busy few weeks for the online learning department at Promote Golf following the move of the Promote Training prospectus over to their new home back in October, and it shows no sign of slowing down with the announcement of their latest eLearning Course – “Strategic Planning for Golf Clubs”.
The new online course is the second from Associate course author Jerry Kilby CCM and explores the virtues of creating a Strategic Plan for a golf club, along with how to go about developing one that’s adopted by all stakeholders.
Jerry says of the course: “Strategic planning is hugely important for golf clubs, particularly when you consider the ever-changing personnel sitting on club committees. This course looks at how to create a 3 to 5 year rolling plan that keeps the club on a consistent path towards its objectives, not flitting from one ambition to another depending on who’s sitting in the Club Captain’s seat.
Creating an effective Strategic Plan, that’s actually used as a working document and not simply shut in a desk draw or filing cabinet for its lifetime, has to be a collaborative effort with input from all stakeholders at the club. This is how to get ‘buy in’ and ensure the whole organisation is moving in the same direction, towards the same goals.
In simple terms, it’s about answering three questions. Where are we now? Where do we want to be? How are we going to get there?”
The new course, which takes 3 to 4 hours to complete, is comprised of 9 units:
- What is a Strategic Plan?
- Preparing to Create Your Plan?
- Vision, Mission and Statement of Core Values
- Strategic Plan 1 – Where Are We Now?
- Strategic Plan 2 – Where Do We Want To Be?
- Strategic Plan 3 – How Are We Going To Get There?
- Securing Approval of the Plan
- Monitoring and Evaluation of the Rolling Plan
- Case Study – Felixstowe Ferry Golf Club
The course costs £40+VAT or £30+VAT for PGA members and employees of clubs using Material Matters supplier and contract management service.
Due to the close link between strategic planning and golf club governance, both courses can also be purchased together for the reduced price of £125+VAT or £95+VAT respectively.
