Sports4Rewards, the new scheme which helps golf clubs to boost their membership, and club members to reduce their monthly shopping bill, has announced its first three clubs.
Members at Mentmore G&CC in Bedfordshire, Hamptworth G&CC in Wiltshire, and Studley Wood GC in Oxfordshire will all receive their Sports4Rewards membership card through the post this month, as the national rewards package – which is only available to members of sports and leisure clubs – begins its nationwide rollout.
With discounts negotiated at Asda, Argos, B&Q, Boots, Sainsbury’s, ToysRUs, WH Smith, Iceland, BHS, Halfords and dozens of other major retailers, the Sports4Rewards card helps golf club members save an estimated £1,200 annually, from their normal shopping bill.
“Effectively, the money which the golfer saves offsets the cost of their annual golf club membership” says Sports4Rewards director, Colin Surman. “If a member spends £400 each month on their grocery shop they could save £192 per year with Sports4Rewards. When you add it all together, it is a fantastic new membership benefit.”
“Sports4Rewards will help golf clubs not only to maintain, but also to grow their membership in 2013” he continued. “And as we recognise that Sports4Rewards offers a significant competitive advantage, we are prepared to offer exclusives within a given radius, on a first-come, first-served basis.”
Over 6,000 retail outlets in the UK accept the new Sports4Rewards card, with cinema chains such as Cineworld, restaurants like Pizza Hut and Caffe Nero, and even theme parks such as AltonTowers, also involved.
Golf club members each receive a personalised letter, Membership Pack and personalised Sports4Rewards Card, and can start using the card after completing a simple free online registration process. Sports4Rewards handles all administration on behalf of the golf club.
“It has been smooth and easy from the start” says Mentmore G&CC General Manager, Clint Moore. “Sports4Rewards has taken care of every detail for us, and Mentmore members will be able to start using their Sports4Rewards card from this month, on thousands of everyday shopping items as well as on one-off items like gifts, luxuries, family days out and even holidays. The other benefit is the added value which our members at Mentmore Golf & Country receive from the Sports4Rewards Card and discounts.”
Club members access their Sports4Rewards benefits via a web page branded with their golf club’s identify. Sports4Rewards sells advertising around this web page in a Media Package which means there is no cost of participation for the golf club.
“The club boosts its membership, and the member offsets their annual subs by reducing their shopping bills” said Colin Surman. “It works, and we believe Sports4Rewards is going to be very popular among golf club operators looking to improve their profitability through strengthening their membership.”
