Attracting new players can be a struggle for many golf clubs but not for Dartmouth Golf & Country Club, which is bucking the trend after revealing that membership levels have soared during the winter months.
The popular South Devon resort has signed up more than 100 new members since the start of November as interest continues to grow in the 27-hole complex.
Dartmouth offers a wide range of golf memberships starting from just £365 per year and, as part of its drive for new members, launched an innovative new GolfSHARE scheme at the start of the winter – offering people the chance to become a member and get another membership absolutely free.
Running until 15 March, the new initiative allows prospective new players to sign up at the resort and then invite a friend or family member to join them as an associate member with no extra charge.
And if both players decide to join after the offer ends, they can do so with no joining fee with both receiving up to £200 off their subscriptions in the first year and up to £100 off the amount due in the second 12 months.
Huw Darch, sales and marketing manager at Dartmouth Golf & Country Club, said: “We are very pleased that local golfers are taking advantage of this unique offer and we look forward to welcoming a few more, before the scheme ends in March.”
Situated in 225 acres of south Devon countryside, just outside the beautiful town of Dartmouth, Dartmouth Golf & Country Club boasts 27 holes, with the 18-hole Championship Course and Dartmouth Course complementing each other nicely.
The Championship Course was designed to challenge the most proficient golfer, with strategic positioning of tees, meandering streams, 12 water features and undulating greens. But while it makes the better players think, it is not so punitive as to spoil a round for high-handicappers and provides an excellent and enjoyable challenge to golfers of all abilities.
Although only a nine-hole layout, the Dartmouth is built to the same high standards as its sister course. Measuring 2,252 yards with a par of 33, it is guaranteed to test players while they enjoy a more relaxed round.
In addition to golf, the resort also boasts first-class leisure facilities, which include an indoor pool, Jacuzzi, sauna and spa. There is also plenty to explore in the surrounding South Devon countryside and along the coast. Located just four miles outside the historic town of Dartmouth the resort is an ideal base from which to visit the area’s many beaches and attractions.
