Knutsford Golf Club in Cheshire has achieved the SafeGolf club accreditation from England Golf.

Founded in 1891, Knutsford, which boasts a 9-hole heathland course, has demonstrated the clubs’ commitment to safeguarding children and young people, as well as adults.

The club’s Junior Section currently has about 30 junior members, all of whom are under the guidance of club professional Tim Maxwell.

Natalie Cusselle, who led the club’s push to SafeGolf and works as the Club’s Welfare Officer, said: “Knutsford is a very friendly, welcoming and forward-thinking golf clubs and our juniors really feel part of the club. This award helps us to spread that message and to tell people that children are safe and secure here and that we understand about beginner golfers.”

The award was presented by Ben Johnson, England Golf’s North West Club Support Officer, who said, “I’m delighted that Knutsford Golf Club has achieved SafeGolf accreditation and that its efforts to grow the game can be nationally recognised.”
