Golf Genius, the leading provider of cloud-based golf software solutions, is presenting one of the most prestigious amateur golfing events in the world this week, as the Concession Cup first round got under way at Real Club Valderrama in Spain.
The three-day team event sees 12 of the finest mid-amateur and senior-amateur golfers from Europe compete against their US counterparts for the Concession Cup.
The Walker Cup-style event was established in 2014 and this year will be the first with Golf Genius as its presenting partner, where the company’s flagship Tournament Management software will power the event’s live scoring and leaderboards across its varying formats.
Craig Higgs, Managing Director of Golf Genius International commented: “We are really proud to be supporting such a prestigious event in the Concession Cup, an event that is renowned for hosting some of the best amateur golfers in the world.
“For the first time in its history, Golf Genius Tournament Management will be powering this three-day event to create a truly unique experience for all the players, captains and attending fans, and we wish both teams the very best of luck.”
The Concession Cup joins a rapidly expanding list of distinguished and high-profile golf tournaments, including the Curtis Cup, the KPMG LPGA Championship, and the KitchenAid Senior PGA Championship, to have embraced Golf Genius’ market-leading Tournament Management software at their events.
“It is a great honour to serve as team captain for the European Team in the Concession Cup. The Concession Cup celebrates an iconic moment in golfing history, and I hope that the sportsmanship shown by Jack Nicklaus will serve as an example for young and old golfers for many years to come,” comments Tore Sviland, European Team Captain.
“We are very happy to work alongside Golf Genius in this event because it will allow the captains, and vice captains, to follow the progress of our live matches and see how our players are performing in-play. With the ability to view matches online, it provides the supporters an immersive experience to follow the matches live.”
The first shot of the opening match got underway on Wednesday morning, with live leaderboards stationed across the course and surrounds displaying the live scores and match results, as well as live scoring being available to view online through the Concession Cup website and social media channels.
