GCMA’s New App Takes Off

12.06am 11th December 2013 - Management Topics

GCMA appThe Golf Club Managers’ Association (GCMA)’s new members’ app, developed by Eagle and launched in style at the recent National Conference to a great reception, is enjoying an excellent rate of take-up, or technically speaking, downloading with nearly 50% of the membership activating the app so far.

The GCMA’s National Secretary Bob Williams is delighted with the response, as he comments, “The new app has pretty well everything any GCMA member could want, all in the palm of their hand if they’re using their smartphone or tablet, or on their desktop if in the office.  It’s not only proving a brilliant way to keep up with GCMA events in the Diary tab, and the general news stories in News, but the Noticeboard feature is clearly a hit judging by the feedback to the recent Conference!”

The Noticeboard tab is open to any member that wants to ‘pin’ something up for others to check out, and there are already a variety of new messages, such as one from the GCMA office telling members about the next Training Programme at Weston-super-Mare, and another explaining how to put your name forward for the International matches.

Bob continues, “The app provides all sorts of useful tools, for example going into the GCMA Members tab on a smartphone makes it very easy to get another member’s contact details if you wanted to call them there and then. For anyone looking to communicate with one of the Regional Secretaries, there’s a special feature with the e-mail address of the Secretary of each Region. With a smartphone or tablet, sending them a message becomes simplicity itself.”

The GCMA’s Library archive is expected to be another very popular feature, given the wealth of material that now resides there for any of the GCMA’s members to download. For those arranging matches, there’s a special GCMA Team Manager tab where both the match managers and members wanting to play can put their names down for the match squad, enabling the Team Manager to then e-mail or text his or her selected players accordingly.

Bob is keen that as many GCMA members download and set up their profiles as possible, as he explained, “All you need to do is go to your smartphone or tablet, put gcma.eagleapp.mobi into your browser or use the google search bar and then when the app appears, put your profile in as a member – you only need to create you profile once – and away you go!”
