The Golf Consultants Association (GCA) has launched a new, completely rebuilt website to coincide with the beginning of the new golf season, with improved navigation and an overhauled members’ area.
Formed in 1999, the GCA offers a wealth of expertise in delivering honest, practical advice and solutions to golf developers, clubs, owners and operators around the world. All its members have a proven track record in helping their clients build, develop, market and operate golf clubs and resorts – from single nine-hole courses to full-scale international resorts.
It is a non-profit-making organisation and acts as a central point of contact for a group of golf specialists – from course design and construction to PR and marketing – who share the common goal of delivering appropriate solutions to clients’ needs.
The new website benefits from a completely new navigational structure which emphasises the main service areas offered by GCA members. It includes quick calls to action in five key services through text in the header or visually through icon graphics on the home page.
The members’ area has been completely overhauled and now offers members their own updateable area via a secure login and password, and also enables them to upload text and imagery, client logos, testimonials and news about their latest projects.
Google Analytics has been added to feedback web stats as well as linking the site directly to an e-newsletter provider for e-shot mailings. The whole website is built using the Expression Engine CMS platform which allows the GCA to control updates to all areas of the website, both words and pictures, and also allows members to access their own member profile.
GCA chairman Howard Swan, of Swan Golf Designs, said: “We needed to freshen up our on-line presence as we felt the previous website no longer portrayed the depth of experience and variety of services that members offered their worldwide clientele.
“The new site is a completely bespoke design incorporating large, industry specific images including an outsized feature background wrap for widescreen viewers. It is much more modern and fresh in approach and is more appealing to the viewer. It has been carefully thought out to guide the viewer through the website to the relevant area and to make it easy to contact the GCA directly for more information.”
Members of the Warwickshire-based GCA have a collective service exceeding 300 years in golf with assignments in more than 50 countries. Recent projects have taken place in the UK, Germany, Poland, Czech Republic, Greece and Wales, while active discussions are under way with a number of government agencies in relation to strategies to develop and grow golf tourism throughout Europe and the developing world.
