Expert golf export advisory services available

12.04pm 4th April 2025 - Management Topics

A new company, MJ Associates has been formed to provide an advisory consulting service to manufacturers and suppliers in the golf industry to establish new sales channels in Europe, Middle East and North Africa and to grow their sales as a result.

The company is the brainchild of Mike Jacobsen who recently completed a 19-year stint with Srixon Sports Europe where he was responsible for implementing and managing the company’s sales in Europe through a network of distributors and sales agents.

Prior to joining Srixon in 2006, Jacobsen had worked with Golfsmith Europe where, as UK and European Senior Sales Manager with Lynx Golf in the brand’s heyday, he was responsible for all UK and European sales.

Jacobsen said: “There are so many pitfalls when working in new territories for example, how to realistically target distributors and agents, in- depth product training, efficient use of marketing funds, compliance with a brand’s global marketing strategy, logistics, key-account relationship management and the minefield of distribution contracts and OFAC regulations.

“Good adherence to all these important aspects of selling internationally can ensure sales growth and the most effective representations of a brand’s products. I aim to assist companies to navigate these areas, calling on my extensive experience having established sales channels across some 28 countries across Europe, all unique markets needing a varied approach in each one to achieve optimum results.

“Of course, I often work with new companies but interestingly, established companies have also benefitted from a consultation in order to check that everything is as it should be in respect of their own in-house procedures.”
