English Golf Union approves Child Protection Policy

Both the Child Protection Policy and the Safeguarding Guidelines have been produced to help and support all those involved in junior golf administration and coaching.

At the English Golf Union Ltd. General Meeting, held on 31st October 2007, the 34 County Union voting member representatives overwhelmingly voted to approve and adopt the EGU Child Protection Policy.

The County Unions also approved the Children in Golf Strategy Group’s “Guidelines for Safeguarding Children in Golf”. Both documents will be printed and distributed to all County Unions and EGU affiliated clubs in the New Year.

The Children in Golf Strategy Group (CiG) is an independently chaired partnership between: The PGA, PGA European Tour, The R&A, The Golf Foundation, English Golf Union, English Ladies’ Golf Association, Ladies Golf Union, Golf Union of Wales, Golf Union of Ireland, Ladies Irish Golfing Union, Golf Club Managers Association.

Both documents will also be available on the EGU website, www.englishgolfunion.org.
