Following last year’s Golf Club Membership Questionnaire, conducted by the English Golf Union and English Ladies‘ Golf Association, feedback has once again identified that there are many junior and adult membership vacancies available in England. Of affiliated golf clubs 89% stated that they had vacancies, resulting in nearly 40,000 places.
Over 50% of these golf clubs – private members, proprietary and municipal clubs – have requested help from the EGU and ELGA in filling these vacancies.
To address this, the EGU continually updates its Membership Vacancy List. This provides a comprehensive directory of golf clubs that have requested help. The list indicates what type of vacancies the clubs have and displays their contact details, making it easier for anyone interested in joining a club to search for their nearest venue. There is also the option for golf clubs to submit their details directly online and thus promote their vacancies.
The Membership Vacancies List can be found by visiting the EGU website on www.englishgolfunion.org and clicking on ‘Membership Vacancies‘ on the homepage.
This initiative is part of the ‘Get into Golf‘ structure developed by the EGU and ELGA, aimed at getting more people involved in the game from beginner level to golf club membership.
