EGU supports PGA National Golf Week

The English Golf Union is supporting The Professional Golfers’ Association with its initiative to introduce more people to the game in BAE Systems National Golf Week 7th - 15th April 2001

Free golf lessons and clinics are to be given to complete beginners by qualified PGA professionals at venues throughout the UK during BAE Systems National Golf Week which runs from 7th – 15th April. It is hoped that 25,000 plus participants will take up this opportunity. Both the PGA and the English Golf Union feel it is very important to encourage more people to take up golf and to provide a stable foundation and clear pathway into the game.

The EGU Associate Membership Scheme will complement National Golf Week by offering all participants a chance to continue their enthusiasm gained from the free lessons. The scheme for non golf club members is aimed at encouraging people to take up the game, whilst educating them on the rules and etiquette of golf and providing recognition of their ability through a handicap. The scheme benefits all standards of players, from beginners to more experienced golfers, both young and old, offering a pathway through to golf club membership.
