12.24am 2nd October 2009 - Management Topics

The British Golf Industry Association (BGIA) launched their newly completed three part European Golf Apparel & Footwear Market Reports at Golf Europe, 2009 in Munich last Monday.

The seminar, entitled “Market Figures and Trends – The Brand New European Golf Apparel & Footwear Study” took place on Monday 28th September and EDM editor Eugenio Di Maria presented the research alongside Barbara Smit (Senior Researcher), who provided an insight into the topics covered and taster information about some of the key countries featured.

Seminar attendees were impressed with the depth of information and topics covered in the reports, with EDM having undertaken almost 700 interviews and over 200 company profiles in the 1,450+ page, three volume report.

The BGIA was supported by the British Chambers of Commerce Export Marketing Research Scheme who assisted in commissioning the research project, carried out by EDM Publications on behalf of the BGIA.

Research for the report was carried out in a total of 33 countries and the report is delivered in three volumes, covering Southern Europe, Central & Eastern Europe (including South Africa & Morocco) and Northern Europe.

Listings of golf apparel and footwear brands
Using a combination of primary research and interviews with leading market players, EDM have studied the market for footwear and a variety of soft goods from technical golf apparel to golf-inspired clothing throughout all product groups, from rainwear to socks.

Particular attention has been paid to the chain of distribution at the wholesale and retail stages in each country, ways of entering the market and optimising brand penetration. The reports have profiles and listings of golf apparel and footwear brands as well as distributors and retailers of all kinds of golf products. General information is also given on the socio/economic environment in each country, golf participation, provision of golf facilities and proposed developments and trends in golf tourism.

Hefty BGIA members discount
Since the seminar launch, the BGIA have received a number of enquiries from companies interested in purchasing the reports and hope that BGIA members will proceed to take advantage of the hefty discount (50%) available to them in purchasing the full reports.

The full three volume report is available to purchase from the BGIA for €5,000, with individual volumes available for €2,000, and individual countries priced according to size. BGIA members receive a 50% discount on these prices.
