A ‘hole’ lot of fun was enjoyed by over 250 visitors to Walmley Golf Club in Sutton Coldfield when the club threw open its doors for a Family and Friends Fun Day.
All were made welcome to enjoy making full use of the course and clubhouse with a range of special events on offer for all ages.
Children enjoyed face painting, games and competitions with free drinks, ice creams and sweets for all. Meanwhile adults could sample delicious free snacks from the club’s caterer Pascal Parize, and its local restaurant partner The Eastern which laid on a tempting choice of Asian treats.
The Open Day was designed to have a flavour of a traditional village fete, with games for children of all ages, putting competitions and a chance to sample the fast-growing sports of ‘SpeedGolf’ and ‘FootGolf’.
The highlight of the afternoon was a trickshot demonstration by Jeremy Dale who has amazed audiences around the world with his ability to hit brilliant shots from what would seem impossible positions. A few volunteers from Walmley were invited to have a go and prove it is not as easy as Jeremy made it look!
“The day was designed to welcome family, friends and neighbours of the club and let them have a flavour of what Walmley Golf Club can offer,” said organiser Lawrie Thornton. “It was a great success – with a slice of luck from the weather – and I would like to thank our members and volunteers for making it such a happy day.”
At the end of the day, everyone was entertained by Jeremy Dale demonstrating some amazing trick shots and big hitting.
