Chigwell’s Topgolf venue recently invited 10 primary schools in teams of four to compete in the first School Topgolf Champions in an initiative to work closely with the local community. Competitors from local schools Theydon Bois, Epping, Staples Road, Epping Upland, Hill House and Chipping Ongar took part in the championships and were coached and assisted by Topgolf’s PGA Advanced Professional Coaches.

Epping Upland were the overall winners and all participants were given a free coaching voucher.

topgolf-scoreboardFollowing the success of the school champions, Topgolf is sending its coaches to local schools to teach Tri Golf and offer free coaching lessons at Topgolf at weekends. Tri Golf is the Golf Roots version of golf that is introduced at schools to key stage 2 and 3 pupils and is designed specifically for young children. Tri Golf comprises youngster-friendly equipment including plastic clubs and soft balls, is affordable for schools and is easy for teachers to coach and supervise.

The introduction of Tri-Golf has made it possible for the education sector and golfing community to work closely together with young people, benefitting schools and golf clubs alike. Topgolf is on a mission to prove that everyone can take part in fun golfing activities, with facilities suitable for all ages and all abilities.

Topgolf currently has three UK venues – Chigwell, Watford and Surrey, with plans to expand throughout the UK. For more information on Topgolf, visit: http://topgolf.com/uk
