PGA confirms support for Parliamentary Golf Group

8.15am 8th August 2017 - Growing the Game

The PGA has reaffirmed its support for The All-Party Parliamentary Group for Golf following its reformation after last month’s General Election.

The Group brings together Members of all political parties from both Houses of Parliament and has a singular remit to ‘support the sport of golf’.

It meets regularly when Parliament is sitting to discuss issues that are important to the game and hear the views from those working within it.

The Group has now been reformed after the General Election and will continue its work.  In confirming the PGA’s backing, Robert Maxfield, the Association’s chief executive, said: “We are committed to developing and growing golf in the UK and are delighted to continue supporting the Group.

“We look forward to working with its members to ensure the health, social and economic benefits of the sport are realised at both the local and national level.”

The Group’s Chair, Stephen Gethins MP, said: “We’re very pleased the PGA is continuing to support the Parliamentary Golf Group.  The Group tackled a number of issues since its creation in the last Parliament and we are committed to doing more this Parliament.

“We hope to raise more money for good causes, promote the many positive things golf does at all levels, and challenge matters wherever we can so the game can prosper.”
