National Recognition For Branston Golf & Country Club

Golf Mark, the national accreditation and recognition award, England Golf’s equivalent to Sport England’s Club Mark, for high standards in the sport has been awarded again at Branston Golf and Country Club near Burton upon Trent.

Branston is now one of only 160 Golf Mark clubs in the 1,900 nationwide network supported by England Golf the national body for that sport.

Across the Midlands only five clubs in Derbyshire, one in Warwickshire, four in Leicestershire and thirteen in Staffordshire have been awarded Golf Mark. Branston Club joins the ranks of the elite that include Kedleston Park near Derby and Trentham in North Staffordshire.

Tom Storrar, golf manager at Branston said. “Golf Mark accreditation means that Branston Golf & Country Club stands out from the crowd and is terrific recognition for our high standards, hard work by our talented golf team and well deserved success that marks us out as one of the finest in the Midlands and beyond’.

Ben Johnson, England Golf’s County support officer now responsible for Derbyshire & Cheshire and previously Staffordshire, seen presenting the Golf Mark plaque & Certificate to Branston’s golf team described the benefits of Golf Mark.

“England Golf supports all golf clubs however big or small to achieve distinct operating standards in four areas of a club’s business activity:

“England Golf’s Golf Mark award recognises the highest standards in club management and coaching providing assurance to members and those looking to take up golf that clubs like Branston are well run, welcoming and secure,” he added.

Ben Laing, Branston Club’s managing director said ‘ Following on from our achievement as one of only four finalists nationwide in the Most Welcoming Club of the Year 2019 Award now having our Golf Mark accreditation awarded again is a splendid pat on the back for our talented and dedicated golf team led by Tom Storrar – well done everyone’.
