La Cala Resort in Spain redoubled its efforts to promote inclusivity and grow the game with a celebration of International Women’s Golf Day at its academy on September 1.
Golf balls fizzed across the driving range, as did the Cava, after La Cala’s resident teaching pros hosted a clinic and small drinks reception to mark the day.
In previous years, La Cala has hosted some of Spain’s largest celebrations of Women’s Golf Day. With social distancing protocols observed throughout, the unique circumstances of 2020’s event did little to diminish the enthusiasm of Women’s Golf Day – one of the most important dates in the resort’s calendar.
Silvia Ortega, La Cala’s Golf Sales Manager, said: “As one of the leading golf resorts in Europe, we have a responsibility to do everything we can to promote women’s golf. Growing the game is incredibly important to us and it was fantastic to be able to participate in and celebrate this day, even if it was on a smaller scale than we would like to.”
Women’s Golf Day is a global event celebrating girls and women playing golf and learning the skills that last a lifetime. It is a collaborative effort by organisations from across the golf industry working together to engage, empower and support girls and women through golf.
