iGolf wins International Sports Convention award for fan engagement

England Golf's campaign to engage with non-golf club members through a digital handicap system has won global recognition.

iGolf, the only provider of a Handicap Index for non-club members in England, has been named Fan Engagement Award winner (Governing Body) at the 2025 International Sports Convention awards.

Recognising the initiative’s continued success in engaging new audiences and accelerating growth within the amateur game, the award caps another standout year for iGolf, which welcomed nearly 40,000 new subscribers in 2025, including a 34% increase in female golfers, underlining its role in broadening access to the sport and creating more inclusive pathways into golf.

Launched to modernise how golfers connect with the game, iGolf has rapidly become a key driver of participation, providing golfers with flexible opportunities to track their progress and make social rounds more competitive. Its success has played a meaningful role in supporting the overall growth of the amateur game across England, allowing those who aren’t members of a club to work towards a Handicap Index and still receive digital-first engagement through the MyEG App.

The ISC Award follows iGolf’s Sports Innovation Award win at the 2024 Sports Business Awards, further cementing its position as one of the most impactful participation initiatives in UK sport. Together, the accolades reflect iGolf’s ability to combine innovation, accessibility and consumer-first thinking to deliver measurable growth.

Claire Hodgson, Head of iGolf and iPlay, said: “This award is a brilliant recognition of the work that’s gone into making iGolf accessible and genuinely valuable to today’s golfers. With over 72,000 iGolfers now subscribed and 24,000 iGolfers having transitioned into golf club membership, it shows there is a real appetite for new ways to engage with the game, and a pathway for them into club membership.

“iGolf was created to complement the club system, while opening doors for those who require other ways to access the game, and we’re delighted to see its impact being recognised as part of the wider growth of the amateur game.”

England Golf remains focused on enhancing the golfer experience, reaching new audiences and supporting the long-term health of the sport through the likes of iGolf and iPlay – another of the governing body’s offers, facilitated via the MyEG App, which is set up as an average score indicator for any golfer outside of club membership or iGolf.

With over 10,400 users, iPlay has seen a 61% increase in 2025, while over 2,000 users have subscribed to iGolf, further demonstrating an effective pathway for people to get into the game and go as far as they wish.

The ISC Fan Engagement Award was won in partnership with PR, marketing and events company 54. The award will be presented at a ceremony being held during The International Sports Convention 2026 being held at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London on March 25-26.
