Get into golf, which inspires adults in England to take up golf, is delighted to have become a national partner of Change4Life, the campaign which helps people to eat healthier, get active and live longer.
Get into golf offers great value coaching for beginners and returners to golf. It is run by the England Golf Partnership (EGP), through its network of County Golf Partnerships and is supported by Sport England National Lottery funding.
Roger Moreland, the EGP’s chief operating officer, said: “We are delighted to support Change4Life and to encourage people to take up a sport which can offer some real lifestyle changes.
“Golf is a great game for people of all ages, backgrounds and abilities. Golfers enjoy a healthy dose of fresh air and nature – and some impressive health and wellbeing benefits.
“Golf really does tick all the boxes for things you need for optimal wellbeing,” says psychologist and coach Miriam Akhtar from www.positivepsychologytraining.co.uk “It offers some important feel-good factors, such as an active social life and regular physical activity of the best kind – what we call ‘green exercise’ outside in nature.”
Get into golf coaching sessions are available for mixed groups, women-only and families and are all run by PGA professionals. They offer a basic introduction to the game together with information about club membership and follow-on coaching opportunities. Equipment will be provided so all you have to do is book and turn up on the day in comfortable clothing.
This summer Get into golf activities will be part of the Change4Life Get going campaign to encourage families to get active, for more information please on this campaign please visit www.nhs.uk/change4life
