England Golf hosted a careers day at its Woodhall Spa headquarters this week for students from local schools across the county of Lincolnshire.

Eighty-five pupils from seven schools and colleges took part in a golf careers day organised in association with the Careers In Golf initiative and the Greater Lincolnshire LEP’s Careers Hub

The 15-to 17-year-old students had an opportunity to look at the various careers within golf, from greenkeeping and golf fitness to product design and event management, and heard from the CEO of England Golf and other staff at The National Golf Centre at Woodhall Spa.

These interactions provided first-hand insights into the varied career paths available within the golf industry, making the potential for a future in golf feel tangible and attainable for the students.

“This event was a resounding success as it not only introduced young people to the vast array of careers within the golf industry but also highlighted local opportunities and the transferrable skills gained through a career in golf,” said Alex Nightingale, Operational Hub Lead at Greater Lincolnshire LEP’s Careers Hub.

“It showcased the power of collaboration between our organisations, igniting a passion and curiosity that will undoubtedly shape the future career aspirations of these young individuals.”

Mary-Anne Price, HR Director at England Golf and an Enterprise Adviser at the Careers Hub, added: “We were delighted to host a variety of schools and students from across Lincolnshire to share valuable insights and industry information about careers in golf. Golf truly is for everyone, and we hope the numerous opportunities showcased throughout the day will inspire our future workforce to see golf as not just a game, but also a potential career.”

Jack Cole, Programme Manager at Careers In Golf, said: “The Careers In Golf programme is a new initiative designed to give an insight into all the fantastic careers we have available across the whole golf industry.

“The day at Woodhall Spa was a brilliant event that allowed us to bring these careers to life, with local students speaking with the staff who operate Woodhall Spa and learning about their career journeys.

“These days are great initiatives that bring together multiple organisations within the industry and hopefully they will inspire young people to consider a rewarding career in golf.”
