The fifth Faldo Series Czech Championship will return to Golf Resort Telc on 26-28 June. More than 140 top young golfers from the Czech Republic and neighbouring countries will compete at Telc, located 130 kilometres south of the capital Prague.
“The Czech Championship has had four great years since the first event in 2011 with over 100 skilled competitors at every tournament” said Sir Nick Faldo. “I am very grateful to the Telc Golf Resort and its owners CZ Golf who have worked hard to support our development efforts to grow golf in the Czech Republic.”
The Czech Championship has provided the talented Czech youngster Simon Zach a perfect platform to showcase his game. Zach has experienced playoff heartbreak in both the recent Faldo Series Asia Grand Final as well as the Europe Grand Final and will be driven to achieve success this season, starting at Telc Golf Resort.
With World Amateur Golf Ranking points on offer, 144 top young golfers will compete over 54 holes in Telc. Off the course the players will benefit from time with Faldo’s personal coach Keith Wood. Keith will assist the players and conduct clinics for the duration of the week.
The field of boys and girls aged 12 to 21 will be divided into five age groups – three for boys and two for girls – with the winners of each division joining Sir Nick Faldo at the nineteenth Faldo Series Grand Final, to be hosted by the six-time Major Champion.
Recognised as the only global amateur series for boys and girls, the Faldo Series was established in 1996, expanding to Asia in 2006.
Today, 40 Faldo Series tournaments take place in 30-plus countries worldwide, touching thousands of golfers each year. Past winners include Major Champions Tseng Ya-ni and Rory McIlroy, who took his tally of professional Major titles to four with his wins at the 2014 Open Championship and US PGA Championship.
