The Faldo Series Scotland Championship commences on August 6th at the world’s fourth oldest club. Bruntsfield Links in Edinburgh will stage the event for the first time where a strong field is anticipated at a course that recently served as regional Open qualifying venue.

“Bruntsfield is delighted to be selected to host the 2018 Faldo Series Scottish qualifier,” said Mike Smith, club captain. “The club has been investing in junior golf in recent years. We are eager to build on this initiative by hosting the Faldo Series event and our team of staff and members look forward to welcoming the enthusiastic junior golfers.”

Founded in 1761 – the mature parkland style course has recently undergone a re-development under golf course architects Mackenzie & Ebert. The site commands spectacular views across the Firth of Forth to Fife. Amongst a fiercely competitive field Alison Muirhead has an excellent record in the Faldo Series and will line up as a favourite in the Girls’ Under-21 division.

The tournament will be played over three rounds and is a World Amateur Golf Ranking event. The field will be divided into five age-groups and the winners of each division will join Sir Nick Faldo at the season-ending 22nd Faldo Series Europe Grand Final – to be held at Al Ain Equestrian, Shooting & Golf Club (AESGC) in the United Arab Emirates. AESGC boasts a superb course and immaculate facilities in the Oasis city of Al Ain.

Today, 40 Faldo Series tournaments take place in 30-plus countries worldwide, touching thousands of golfers each year. Past winners include Major Champions Tseng Ya-ni and Rory McIlroy, who took his tally of professional Major titles to four with his wins at the 2014 Open Championship and US PGA Championship.
