There are still a few team places available for the 27th Golf Foundation Pro-Am, which will be held on Monday, 7th October, at London Golf Club. Readers should book soon if they want to support this charity event that will help encourage more young people into golf.

The Golf Foundation Pro-Am is supported by The European Tour and is a highly popular day among golf-lovers from the golf industry and world of business who wish to help make a genuine difference for young people through sport.

This year the event is held once again at one of the country’s most popular golfing venues at London Golf Club, in Ash, Kent (near Brands Hatch).

The Pro-Am drama will be played out on The International course. The International is judged to be among the finest downland courses in Europe, offering an exciting mix of risk and reward to its players. The highly attractive course has been used for for European Tour Qualifying and Regional Open Qualifying in the recent past.

Teams of three amateurs will be supported by a Tour professional for a Stableford better-ball competition which features a range of prizes and on-course challenges. The atmosphere on the day is always very friendly as amateurs are joined by European Tour, European Senior Tour and Ladies’ European Tour players.

Attractions include a champagne breakfast before a shot-gun start, an excellent dinner and a charity auction and raffle, with all money raised on the day going to the HSBC Golf Roots programme, the Golf Foundation’s national strategy to make the game more accessible to children from all backgrounds and abilities (more than £160,000 has been raised through the Pro-Am in the last eight years).

Sarah Tennyson, Marketing Manager of the Golf Foundation, said: “This Pro-Am is a great occasion for business people who want to put something back at the grass roots level. We have a few team places left but we would urge those interested in booking a place to get in touch soon.”

Sarah added: “The European Tour is one of our strongest supporters as a charity that seeks to change the lives of children and young people through HSBC Golf Roots. This is what makes this event a fantastic part of the Golf Foundation diary. The more support we receive from the golf and business communities, the more effect our strategies in schools, communities and golf clubs can have on boys and girls up and down the country.”

The big day is on 7th October. Bookings are for £1,200 per team. Shotgun start at 10.30am. To find out more about booking a team, call 01992 449830 or see www.golf-foundation.org
