Over 14,500 golf enthusiasts were reported at the NEC for the first UK Golf Show – a the three-day event held from 24th to 26th November last year and at the time organisers were optimistic for the future of the event.
“The show had a great turn out and people were impressed with the layout and the range of products and services available,” said a spokesman. “Feedback from the exhibitors has been extremely positive with many of the leading manufacturers running low on stock due to the public demand. This response has given us a great foundation for developing the show for 2007.”
Less than four months later and the picture is very different with the show’s website www.theukgolfshow.co.uk carrying this announcement:
Our efforts to bring a public Golf Show to the Midlands albeit very successfully in terms of the actual exhibition, proved too costly when attempting to overcome the scepticism and doubt of such a political entity.
I would personally like to thank the manufacturers, The Belfry and the 2006 exhibitors for supporting us however without any major backing I can no longer meet the costs and stringent criteria imposed by the venue and the show budget.
