The Golf Show Co Ltd, owner of the London Golf Show, will launch The Golf Show, NEC Birmingham, on 16-18 November 2007.
The announcement was made yesterday at the opening day of the company’s successful flagship event, the London Golf Show, at ExCeL www.londongolfshow.com
Colin Brunton, chairman of The Golf Show Co Ltd, explained, “We had been in discussion with officials at The NEC for some time now and they are really keen for the show to be held at the venue to enable the thousands of golfers based in the centre of the country to enjoy what Londoners have benefited from in the last three years.
“The Golf Show Co has been able to establish a successful template for golf shows, and we decided to establish The Golf Show, NEC Birmingham 2007, using our experience to expand our regional business. We believe there may be other opportunities both internationally and in other regions of the UK.
“While golf is an open-air sport, exhibitions such as this are hostage to ‘mother nature’ so as much as possible needs to be held under cover. And the technological advances in golf coaching – with the advent of computer analysis and ball-flight monitors – necessitate a consistent power supply and an environment which can be provided only by a modern, state-of-the-art exhibition venue such as the NEC.”
The NEC Group’s chief executive, Paul Thandi, added, “We are proud to host The Golf Show, NEC Birmingham 2007. The show is a great coup for The NEC and the region. We wish the event every success when it launches in November and hope that it becomes, like the London Golf Show, a permanent fixture in the exhibition and golfing calendar.
“We are confident the show will have the same success for Birmingham. The NEC’s convenient location, in the centre of the country, and excellent transport links by road, rail and air make the venue easily accessible for visitors travelling from any part of the UK and abroad.”
Brunton added, “Golf fans in the Midlands can rest assured they will have a golf show which will surpass anything they have seen at The NEC before. We have an established team in daily contact with both the big and small companies within the industry – and our initial discussions with them have suggested there is overwhelming support for a show run by golfing professionals in Birmingham.”
The majority of features which have enabled the London Golf Show to cement its place as Europe’s largest consumer golf show will be included in the new event – and The Golf Show Co has promised a new iconic feature to rival that of London’s floating green.
