The VIII Edition of the “International Congress of Golf and the Environment” will take place in Marbella (Spain), 6-7 October 2011
This Congress is going to focus on the analysis of the characteristics and the determining factors for the development of golf in the Mediterranean, with the objective of laying the foundations for the definition of a sustainable development model for golf courses in this area.
“It seeks to attract the interest of professionals, greenkeepers, golf course directors, builders, officials, consultants, managers and designers related to the sector both from Spain and from other countries in the Mediterranean region, to which end we have arranged the participation of leading specialists, both national and international.
“That is why we intend to dedicate an important part of the congress to the study of aspects concerned with the development and management of golf courses, for example those related to the planning, design, building, maintenance and management of the same under the premise of sustainable development,” says Ramón Dávila Guerrero from the organisers.
The programme of activities looks at a series of aspects related to the environment and golf which will allow the speakers and, in general, all the participants in the said congress to establish some scientific and technical conclusions, which will help to establish the foundations for what could be called a ‘Model of Sustainable Golf for the Mediterranean’.
This VIIIth Congress is directed at all the autonomous Spanish regions, as well as Mediterranean countries, with a special relevance for teachers, university students, businessmen from the relevant sectors, professionals, consultants, officials and those responsible for tourism, the environment, town and country planning, town councillors, advisors, engineers, architects, etc.
