Scottish Golf Tourism Week is to move to a new venue next year, with the 2024 renewal of the three-day event being held in Inverness, the capital of the Scottish Highlands.

Launched in 2016, and produced by DC Thomson, Scottish Golf Tourism Week is a unique initiative that gives businesses in Scotland the opportunity to engage directly with international inbound golf tour operators. Created in partnership between DC Thomson and VisitScotland, next year’s event will be held at The Kingsmills Hotel in Inverness from March 19-21.

Scotland’s biggest golf industry conference, Scottish Golf Tourism Week aims to increase Scottish golf tourism by giving Scottish suppliers an unrivalled opportunity to meet with tour operators from around the world. This year’s event will also see local Inverness newspaper The Press & Journal join as partner. Celebrating its 275th year, The Press & Journal will champion and celebrate the thriving Inverness golf business community, shining a spotlight on the area as a key golf tourism destination.

Cara Munro, Head of Events at DC Thomson, said: “We are thrilled to bring Scottish Golf Tourism Week to Inverness for the first time. The 2024 event will allow us to bring the proven commercial success of Scottish Golf Tourism Week to a wider community of golf-related businesses than ever before.”

Following today’s announcement Scottish Tourism Week will have an official launch event in September at The Kingsmills Hotel where businesses and the local community will be invited to meet with the event organisers and partners to learn more about the event.

Speaking about the key role they will play in this year’s event, Tony Story, CEO at The Kingsmills Hotel commented, “I am absolutely thrilled to welcome this most prestigious event to the Highland capital. The opportunity it presents will be massive, not just for the City of Inverness but for everyone who has an interest in golf tourism throughout the Highlands and Islands. We should all recognise the significance of the arrival of so many significant golf buyers from throughout the world and we should all do our very best to ensure this is the best golf tourism week ever.”

An economic impact report prepared for VisitScotland and Scottish Development International in 2022 found that suppliers who attend Scottish Golf Tourism Week forecast an average increase in turnover of over £215,000 across the following three years as a direct result of the new connec9ons they build at the event. It is further estimated that the tour operators in attendance bring approximately 50,000 golf tourists into Scotland every year.
