Golf Industry delivers Harrogate ‘Buzz’

Harrogate Week 2010 defied the extreme weather and the world economy to deliver a real boost to the sports turf industry.

The legendary Harrogate Week “Buzz” was at full volume for the three days of the Show, while 1,616 people took advantage of the workshop and seminar opportunities on offer throughout the Week.

The number of education hours available was an all-time high. This, together with the number of dinners, receptions and informal social activities, reinforces the message that Harrogate Week is about much more than what happens inside the Exhibition Halls.

The Exhibition attendance figure for the three days was 5,883, marginally down on the 2009 figure, but exceeding pre-Show expectations and including 1,135 on what was ‘a pretty good final day’ according to a member of the organizing team.

Speaking on behalf of BIGGA, Chief Executive John Pemberton said, “We are absolutely delighted with Harrogate Week 2010. Going into it we were apprehensive as a result of the recent weather and the general economy but it more than met our expectations. Exhibitors were delighted and the education programme was our biggest ever.”

The Exhibition dates for the next three years have been announced as 18-20 January 2011; 24-26 January 2012; and 22-24 January 2013.
