GCMA Delivers on Conference Promise

9.01am 18th November 2011 - Exhibitions & Conferences

The Golf Club Managers’ Association returned to the Barcelớ Hinckley Island Hotel, Leicestershire for its biennial conference using the phrase ‘Changing Times’ as its theme.

GCMA National Captain John Dinsdale welcomed delegates to this year’s GCMA Conference with an invitation to take advantage of the opportunities for education and networking.

Attendance was up on 2009. More than 40 delegates were at their very first GCMA Conference and there were nearly 30 exhibitors in the adjacent display area.

Keith Lloyd, Chief Executive, said: “The GCMA is solid in what it does to deliver what its members want, and do what it says on the tin. We are financially sound, and whilst still ambitious to continue advancing and improving all the key benefits and education programmes for our membership to a professional standard, we remain mindful of the need for careful planning and realistic targets that are achievable and affordable.

“As Gregg Patterson so rightly stated in one of his slides,  “An idea without commitment is just a daydream!”

The main Conference sponsors, Fairway Credit, Toro and The R&A, should be very pleased with the return on their investment.

A more detailed conference report will appear in next week’s edition of GBN.com.

The Golf Club Managers’ Association supports nearly 2,000 Golf Club Secretaries and Managers on a day-to-day basis. Full details of Member services and benefits are obtainable via the GCMA website www.gcma.org.uk
