Fairway 2006 – new date and new format

8.30am 23rd November 2005 - Exhibitions & Conferences

With effect from 2006 Fairway will be combined with Golf Europe. They will be held together for the first time from Friday, September 29 till Sunday, October 1, 2006 on the grounds of the New Munich Trade Fair Centre. The Fairway planned for the spring 2006 has been postponed, and the comprehensive range of seminars will be held as Fairway Congress at Golf Europe 2006.
With the combining of the two trade fairs the organisers will concentrate on making the event even more international and create one new large event for the whole golf industry. The recent Golf Europe attracted more than 6,000 visitors, over 50% of these from outside Germany.
Just as in the UK, the suppliers of golf course machinery to the mainland European market find it difficult to justify attendance at every Fairway show and also have their own major show in GaLaBau, Nuremberg as well as BTME and SALTEX.
These suppliers are expected to exhibit at Fairway at two-yearly intervals: in the uneven years 2007, 2009 and so on. All other groups of exhibitors have the opportunity to exhibit at Fairway every year in combination with the Fairway Congress and Golf Europe
One forum dealing with all aspects of golf will be established from two events with the new, shared dates, which should then become even more attractive for visitors. This applies to golf course owners and managers, greenkeepers, investors and developers as well as to specialist retailers and golf professionals.
“This was not the first time that idea of combining of Golf Europe und Fairway was discussed,” comments Frank Thonig, president of GMVD. “The new dates in the fall will provide us the possibility of taking a step in the direction of internationalism and link numerous industry dates.”
Manfred Wutzlhofer, chief executive officer of Messe Mà¼nchen GmbH. said, “Fairway as a trade fair is not being discontinued in any sense; to the contrary, it is being developed further. Synergies can be linked and costs reduced. This is a great chance, which we don’t want to miss taking advantage of.”
Cost savings will be passed on to Fairway’s exhibitors with stand space charges being reduced by approx. 20 % to the price level of Golf Europe (€118 – 123 per sq.m.).
Stefanie Gerhardt, Fairway and Golf Europe’s press officer, comments, “Fairway and Golf Europe together will be a perfect and strong European platform for golf. It is a great chance for Fairway to become more international. Exhibitors will get new contacts but both will still be separate and individual fairs, there will also be a separate registration. Golf Europe visitors will have access to both fairs, but not every visitor of Fairway will have access to Golf Europe, in order to keep the trade visitor status of Golf Europe.”
All exhibitors of FAIRWAY will shortly be receiving new information material and application documents for the new FAIRWAY 2006, 29 September – 1 October 2006.
