CMAA’s CEO to Speak At Brunei Summit

James Singerling

One of the world’s most influential executives on club management is on board to deliver a major address at the 2012 Asia Pacific Golf Summit to be held in the Royal Sultanate of Brunei Darussalam.

The top draw is James B. Singerling, chief executive officer of the Club Managers Association of America, widely regarded by many as the guru of golf club management.

“We are delighted to have Jim join us this year – he brings with him a huge wealth of knowledge and experience in club management and he is a perfect fit for the thrust of this year’s Summit which places special focus on club management,” declaredMike Sebastian, chief executive officer of the Asia Pacific Golf Group, the owner and organiser of the Summit.

Prior to this appointment as CMAA’s CEO, Singerling he was a corporate official in the golf course design and management companies of Robert Trent Jones, Sr. He also served as Vice President and general manager of the Coral Ridge Country Club inFt. Lauderdale,Florida. During his 22-year tenure as CEO of CMAA, he has helped guide the Association to the forefront of the hospitality industry.

The CMAA Business Management Institute has grown from offering three programmes annually to 33 on seven university campuses. Singerling has been a member of the Club Managers Association of America for more than 30 years and has enjoyed an outstanding 40-year career in the hospitality industry. He is a Certified Executive Chef with the American Culinary Federation (ACF), and a Certified Club Manager with CMAA. He is also President of The Club Foundation and served as President of the Team USA Culinary Foundation from 1992 to 1996.

Singerling is currently serving on the Board of Directors of the Alexandria Chamber of Commerce and on the Board of Trustees of the Alexandria Symphony Orchestra. He accepted nomination to the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Committee of 100, the country’s most prestigious group of chief staff executives. In 1998, Singerling was honored as the Industry Leader of the Year by UNLV – the largest four-year undergraduate hospitality programme in the world. He is on the Advisory Board of UNLV and Johnson andWalesUniversity. He has been unanimously selected byMichiganStateUniversity’sSchoolofHospitality Businessto be honored as 2002 Industry Leader of the Year.
