Fancourt in George next week welcomes a selection of top speakers and hundreds of delegates at the fourth annual South African Golf Summit, which takes place from Sunday 29th March to Wednesday 1st April 2009.
Eden District Municipality Acting Executive Mayor Jurie Harmse welcomes the golf industry stakeholders and encourages them to make the most of the region during their visit. “Golf plays a significant role in the region’s economy and it is very important that we find solutions to the issues brought about by the current economic crisis. However, it is also an opportunity to see our beautiful region, which offers much more than just world class golf courses,” said Harmse.
Fancourt marketing director Kwakye Donkor said the summit programme this year focused on the effects of the global economic crisis on the golfing industry, but would also showcase interesting research results and presentations. “Our industry is particularly diverse and intricate, which makes for interesting content and debate. The Summit promises to challenge your thinking and offer inspiration in hard times. It will also offer you a place to vent and raise concerns and come away encouraged,” said Donkor.
A distinguished list of local and international speakers will address topics such as profitable golf club operations and maintenance practices, integration of the environment with golf, the role of homeowners associations, master planning, opportunities and growth potential of golf estate and resort development in Africa, strategic partnerships, catering to the golfing customer, sustainable practices in running and managing golf clubs and homeowners associations, and golf tourism.
The fourth SA Golf Summit is endorsed by the Professional Golfers Association of South Africa and supported by South African Tourism, the Eden Municipality and Tourism South Coast.
Sponsors include Airlink, All Golf Group, Aqua D‘or Mineral Water, Arnold Palmer Design Company, Brandhouse, Compleat Golfer, David Frost Signature Series, Golf Digest, Goose Wines, Matkovich & Hayes, Rain Bird International, Ransomes Jacobsen Ltd, South African Express, Tee to Green, Toro and Tours for South Africa.
