Celtic Manor will exhibit alongside Meet Cardiff Capital Region at London’s Olympia next week to deliver the message that Wales has the facilities and the know-how to host more major events.

The Celtic Manor Resort will showcase its latest developments and promote Wales as a leading business destination at The Meetings Show 2016 in London next week.

Celtic Manor will exhibit alongside Meet Cardiff Capital Region at London’s Olympia to deliver the message that Wales has the facilities and the know-how to host more major events.

Host venue for the 2014 NATO Summit, Celtic Manor has underlined its determination to continue bringing the biggest events to Wales by agreeing a joint venture partnership with the Welsh Government to begin work this year on a new Wales International Convention Centre at the resort.

Scheduled to open in early 2019, the facility will increase Celtic Manor’s capacity from 1,500 delegates to 4,000 delegates with a separate auditorium and exhibition hall, where 4,000 square metres of pillar-free space can provide Europe’s largest ballroom.

Celtic Manor Chief Executive Ian Edwards said: “The new convention centre will provide an enormous boost not just for Celtic Manor but for Wales as a whole.

“We saw when we delivered the 2014 NATO Wales Summit just how much we can achieve when we work together as a team and this facility will have the capability to bring even bigger events to Wales.

“It will greatly enhance Wales’ standing as a business destination and bring huge benefits to the Welsh economy as hotels across the region will be needed to accommodate the number of delegates attending the largest events. Meetings venues, restaurants, visitor attractions and other businesses will also be utilised by these events.”

Celtic Manor will also update delegates attending the UK’s largest meetings industry show about other recent developments including its acquisition of a neighbouring 148-bedroom hotel in March.

Celtic Manor safeguarded more than 100 jobs when it acquired the Hilton Newport and renamed it the Coldra Court by Celtic Manor. It is now investing £2m over the next three years to upgrade the bedrooms and facilities at the new hotel.

More money is being invested in a refurbishment at the main Resort Hotel where the first restyled bedrooms have opened as the Signature Collection, complete with a new Signature Lounge and Steak on Six restaurant.

With four hotels in all and ten luxury lodges offering a total of almost 600 bedrooms, the Celtic Manor Resort is a prestigious destination for business, golf and leisure, only two hours from London at the gateway to Wales.

Voted the UK’s Best Hotel at the 2016 Meetings and Incentive Travel Awards, the resort is home to three championship golf courses and an abundance of adventure activities, perfect for teambuilding.
