The Australians have decided to throw their weight behind the 2013 Campus On The Greens, the only dedicated knowledge conference for superintendents in Asia.
In a landmark decision, the Australian Golf Course Superintendents Association (AGCSA), announced, “The AGCSA would be delighted to be involved in the 2013 Campus on the Green sessions associated with the APGS.”
In making the announcement AGCSA’s general manager Peter Frewin said, “At this stage we intend to send Andrew Peart (AGCSA Tech Agronomist) and Darren Wilson (AGCSA Board member) to the event.”
2013 Campus On The Greens will be staged in Jakarta, Indonesia on November 3 – 5 and will precede the 2013 Asia Pacific Golf Summit which will be held on November 5 – 7.
The conference will be hosted by the Indonesian Golf Course Superintendents Association.
Commenting on this development, Mike Sebastian, chief executive officer of the Asia Pacific Golf Group, the owner and producer of the Campus On The Greens said, “This is a very significant development because we regard the AGCSA to be very knowledgeable about conditions in our region and it is also very well equipped to impart relevant information and knowledge to superintendents in the region.”
“If any organisation can make a truly major contribution to the practical knowledge of Asian superintendents, especially those operating in the warm and cool geographies, it is the AGCSA”, Sebastian added.
The Australian Golf Course Superintendents’ Association was formed in 1981 to further the profession of golf course management in Australia and the Pacific Rim. Since that time the association has grown steadily in size and now boasts over 1000 members from all states of Australia, New Zealand and the Pacific Rim.
The AGCSA vision statement is as follows: “The AGCSA is committed to the ongoing professional development and support of all those involved in the golf course maintenance industry.” Following on from this, the AGCSA’s ultimate goal is that: “All golf courses have the best possible playing surfaces and adjacent environment within the limitations of available resources.”
