Work has started on the second phase of development at the acclaimed new Centurion Club near St Albans in Hertfordshire.
The private club have begun the development and construction of a new Club Building and state-of-the-art 850 square metre green keepers’ complex to supplement the superbly crafted existing structure erected at the Club’s inauguration. Work started on the latter in March and is expected to take 3-4 months to complete. Construction work on the new Club Building overlooking the 18th green will be completed in the summer of 2015.
This follows the Club’s successful launch period dating back to last summer, with over one quarter of the Club’s available membership packages already being snapped up.
The 7,200-yard golf course opened in July 2013 and has been receiving rave reviews from members and guests alike, both for the design of the course and the pristine condition which it is maintained in.
The new Club Building is a contemporary two-storey structure designed by Harrison Mutch Architects, built using timeless, traditional materials. Limestone walls sit under a grey slate roof, framed using aesthetically sophisticated Iroko wood windows, while the interior has been assembled with the Club’s comfortable, relaxed ethos in mind. It will provide a space where members and guests can expect flawless, friendly service at the restaurant and bar, high-spec locker rooms as well as private rooms for banqueting, conferences and meetings.
“This is an exciting time at Centurion Club and its rapidly growing membership,” confirmed the Club’s Managing Director, Scott Evans. “The construction of our new Club Building represents the latest phase in our plan to provide members with a private club of unrivalled quality.
“We have had some terrific comments on the course from some distinguished visitors already and I’d like to think our new Club Building will attract similar acclaim when it opens next year.”
Centurion Club is built on a picturesque parcel of land to the south west of the Roman city of St Albans, close to the M1 and M25 and just half an hour’s drive from the City of London.
