Troon, the leader in club management, development, and marketing, has extended its current partnership with luxury Greek golf resort Costa Navarino.
Troon, through its Troon International division, has been engaged at The Bay and The Dunes courses since inception and will now provide agronomy, operations and marketing support to the two new additions, The Hills Course and The International Olympic Academy Golf Course.
2022 has seen Costa Navarino continue to increase its profile as an established golf destination in the Mediterranean by offering a world-class golf experience on its now four Championship golf courses. Each course bears the signature of a world-renowned designer and offers a unique combination of challenges and rewards for golfers of all levels.
DJ Flanders, Senior Vice President at Troon International, commented: “I am absolutely delighted that we are extending our partnership with the wonderful Costa Navarino team. By deepening our alliance, we will be able to assist the team with the very best standards in the golf business and continue delivering a top quality golfing product for both Greek and international golfers to experience. These four golf courses will enhance Costa Navarino’s overall asset base and we are excited to be part of the Costa Navarino journey.”
The world’s first International Olympic Academy Golf Course and the neighbouring Hills Course, as well as the new Hills Clubhouse, made their debut at the start of the 2022 golf season. These two new courses provide the ideal complement to the destination’s existing signature golf courses, The Dunes Course and The Bay Course, and mean that players of all levels can now enjoy the challenge of four signature golf courses, all within a 13km distance. Both new courses, as well as The Dunes Course, will soon welcome the first-ever Aegean Messinia Pro-Am, the most important tournament in the destination’s golfing calendar which has been established by AEGEAN Airlines and Costa Navarino.
Designed by two-time Masters champion José María Olazábal, the two courses are situated over 125 hectares at the destination’s newest area Navarino Hills. The new layouts are set in a unique location affording views to the mountains and valleys, overlooking the historic Bay of Navarino and the Ionian Sea. The International Olympic Academy Golf Course measures 6,366m and The Hills Course is slightly shorter at 6,280m in length. Both courses feature an average green size of 669m², a 60-bay driving range and a 15,000m² short game area.
Nuno Sepúlveda, General Manager, Costa Navarino Golf, said: “The Hills Course and The International Olympic Academy Golf Course are both outstanding golf courses situated within Europe’s newest golf destination. We are looking forward to further developing our guest experience at both courses and with Troon’s renowned level of service, operations and agronomy standards, the expansion of our partnership is a very exciting milestone.”
