The Dutch, a signature 18-hole Championship course designed by 2010 Ryder Cup Captain Colin Montgomerie in conjunction with European Golf Design, has been announced today as the fifth European Tour Destination, part of The European Tour’s exclusive network of world class golfing facilities.

Centrally located in the heart of The Netherlands, with easy access to the cities of Rotterdam, Amsterdam and Utrecht, The Dutch is a 6,518 metre, par 71 course which opened officially in May 2011 and was the selected venue for Holland’s official  bid to host The 2018 Ryder Cup.

The Dutch becomes the 11th European Tour Properties Member Venue and the first in The Netherlands.  An outstanding and challenging golf course is complemented by off-course facilities which feature a remarkable clubhouse, modelled on the best of traditional Scottish clubhouses and boasting many original golfing artefacts.

Quality, exclusivity and attentive service are key to the reputation that The Dutch has quickly gained throughout The Netherlands and beyond, while the golf course has, in a short space of time, become renowned for its superb drainage and pristine conditioning.

Ground-breaking construction techniques were used to create a dramatic and undulating landscape, featuring rolling fairways framed by imposing, gorse-clad mounds. An inland links in style, The Dutch also boasts smooth, lightning-quick greens and many different types of water features, including lakes, canals and traditional Scottish ‘burns.’

The Dutch is a venue where golf meets business in a uniquely conducive environment. This exclusive Members’ Club was created from the passion and enthusiasm of Made in Scotland, a dynamic company created by a group of golf professionals. The architects of the business – Mauk de Booy, David Burnside, Alan Saddington and Jonas Saxton – have created a unique link between golf and business for their network of clients and developed The Dutch as a home venue for Made inScotlandand private Members.

Niek Molenaar, CEO of The Dutch and Made in Scotland, said: “We are very privileged to be part of this distinguished network. TheNetherlandsis the first country on the continent where golf was played and has the highest density of golfers so it’s more than fitting that one of our beautiful courses is a European Tour Destination.”

Announcing the signing of the new agreement, David MacLaren, The European Tour’s Director of Property and Venue Development, said: “We developed a very strong bond with the founders of Made in Scotland during The 2018 Ryder Cup bid process and recognised that we were dealing with exceptionally talented and innovative individuals who understand both golf and business.

“This relationship has continued with the completion of what is unquestionably an international quality golf venue in The Dutch and one which will grow and flourish through the promotion of future development at the venue.”
