The owner of Teign Valley Golf Club in Devon has submitted a planning application to reduce its 18-hole course by a third and use the spare land to build padel and pickleball courts and holiday accommodation.
In its application to the Dartmoor National Park Authority, the club’s owner, 360 Sycamore Ltd, has cited the need to diversify its offering to ensure the long-term viability of the business.
360 Sycamore, which bought Teign Valley in 2022, has outlined plans to shorten the club’s existing 18-hole course to a reconfigured 12-hole short course, and rewild some of the existing areas. Plans also include extending the clubhouse, the conversion of an existing farms building to create guest accommodation, and the installation of two padel courts and two pickleball courts.

A planning report issued by the club, which is currently closed, said: “The stated vision is to reposition Teign Valley Golf Club as a contemporary, family-oriented golf, leisure, and hospitality venue for the local community. The proposals embody a thoughtful approach, prioritising landscape preservation, biodiversity, and the rich heritage of Dartmoor within the plans.”
Members of the Dartmoor National Park Authority’s planning committee will consider the application at a meeting on September 5.
