Swans to extend The Wiltshire

A further eleven holes will be integrated with sixteen from the original layout to produce a high class golfing facility comprising an 18-hole, 6,700 yard course and a 9-hole 3,100 yard course as well as a dedicated teaching and practice academy

Swan Golf Designs Limited has been commissioned by long time client Eddy Shah to improve the golfing facilities at The Wiltshire Golf and Country Club.
Formerly known as Wootton Bassett Golf Club, the impressive development at The Wiltshire currently boasts an eighteen-hole golf course, health spa and 58 room hotel. Shah’s Messenger Leisure Ltd, former owners of The Suffolk and The Essex golf courses where Swan also worked, have now concentrated their efforts on the Golf and Country Club situated little more than an hour to the west of London.
SGD will design a further eleven holes to integrate with sixteen from the original layout, and produce a high class golfing facility comprising an 18-hole, 6700 yard course and a 9-hole 3100 yard course as well as a dedicated teaching and practice academy. William Swan is appointed as SGD’s project architect.
Howard Swan said, “It is good to renew our working relationship with Mr Shah, and we look forward to improving the golf course to match the high standards of The Wiltshire’s Health Spa and Hotel.”
Swan is a past president of the European Institute of Golf Course Architects and heads a design practice based in England with seven golf course architects, all of whom are part of the Institute.
