Swan’s boy to Brazil

7.30am 19th May 2006 - Course Development

Swan Golf Designs, international golf course architects from Essex, England has been commissioned by Norwegian developers to lay out a 27 holes resort course close to Natal in northern Brazil.
Some 260 hectares are included in the development, with the impressive dune land coastal strip nearby. The land, rolling sand hills and valleys, and with the benefit of a substantial river running through its midst, is vegetated by palms and indigenous species of shrubs, fruits and scrub.
William Swan, who will take the responsibility of the project over the next two years adds, “We are relishing the chance for SGD to work in South America. Brazil is an exciting country which offers golf a great opportunity to further spread its wings. The north-eastern region in which Natal lies benefits from a stunning and seemingly endless coastline, backed by spectacular dunescapes which are ideal for the design of a natural links.
It is expected that construction of the first eighteen holes, with incorporated real estate, will commence in the middle of 2006 and continue to a completion in 2007.
Swan Golf Designs is also working in North America, India and China, as well as extensively in the United Kingdom and Continental Europe.
