Swan designs for Golf Development Wales

Part of a country park, recovered from old coal workings, has been turned into a public golfing centre with a nine hole par-3 course, driving range and short game academy

Swan Golf Designs, commissioned as golf course architects for Golf Development Wales’s ‘Initiative to Develop Junior Practice and Training Facilities’, have designed the golf training facility at Parc Bryn Bach, north of Swansea in Blaenau Gwent.
Construction of the golf facility, which encompasses a nine hole par-3 course, driving range and short game academy, began in May. The construction work was carried out by Land Unit Construction and the irrigation by Rainbird UK and Ocmis Irrigation .
Nigel Henbury, senior architect, said, “We are very pleased that our design feasibility for the project has now been implemented. The concept is ideally suited to this country park, recovered from old coal workings, in providing a public golfing centre where all those who wish to join the game can go to learn the game and develop their skills.”
Swan Golf Designs, through their contractual agreement with Golf Development Wales, have completed further conceptual designs for facilities at Cardigan Golf Club, Pontypridd Golf Club, part of the Welsh Golfing Union, Clays Golf Club, Palleg Golf Club and the Three G’s Resource Centre in Merthyr Tydfil.
