Spey Valley Opens for First Full Season

12.15am 16th April 2007 - Course Development

The Macdonald Aviemore Highland Resort’s Spey Valley Golf Course has opened for the season with a new professional, Stuart Morrison. A former pro at the Royal Dornoch course in Sutherland, Stuart is confident the 7,177 yard course will attract golfers from all over the region and the UK.

Designed by the world renowned, Dave Thomas, Spey Valley Golf Course is nestled within a Caledonian pine forest and benefits from the backdrop of the Cairngorms National Park. The River Spey also flows alongside many holes.

Since opening on 1st April, the course has already played host to over 500 golfers and a number of corporate parties.

Stuart Morrison said, “The Scottish Highlands have an excellent reputation in the golfing world. Spey Valley is a golfer’s dream with long sweeping fairways and stunning Scottish scenery. It has massive potential both for tourists and as a course for professional competitions. This is the course’s first full season and I’m sure it will cement its place in the upper echelons of Scottish golf.”
